Where it comes from.
Web B started as a manifesto. A short directory of practical alternatives was added. And now, its ambition is to become a network of people who believe the web is worth reclaiming.
The web has been captured. But resistance is growing. In a 2026 interview, Tim Berners-Lee described the battle for the soul of the web, and he is not alone. Movements, initiatives, and communities are converging around the same diagnosis. Web B is one attempt to federate that energy under a name that has not yet been claimed, a fresh start built on what already exists.
Web B is an independent project. It follows the principles of the RAF (Re-appropriation Framework) developed at reappropriate.org. The manifesto is published under CC BY-SA 4.0 and is open to translation, adaptation, and republication.
Web B does not ask people to wait for a better web to be invented. It asks them to use, build, and defend what already exists.
